Facebook Pages Can Schedule Live Video

Posted on Oct 19, 2016 by Rachel McLean

That’s right, guys. We’ve been waiting for this for months now, but Facebook have finally announced that they’re launching scheduled live video for Pages. This will change the way businesses communicate and utilise Facebook Live – and I have to admit, I’m a wee bit excited about this latest update!

Anyone who has been using Facebook Live has seen firsthand the incredible organic reach that this feature provides (THANK YOU, FACEBOOK!), and if you’ve ever heard me speak at a small business event, you’ll have heard me say “video is the future!” or even been lucky enough to demo Facebook Live streaming. I can’t wait to see how businesses incorporate this new feature into their social media strategy.

With Scheduling live video, small businesses can build up anticipation for their video, ahead of time. According to Facebook, when we schedule a live video, an announcement post will be published to the newsfeed, letting fans know about the upcoming broadcast. But one of the coolest parts about this is what Facebook said next: “Your fans can then join a pre-broadcast lobby directly before the live video starts, where they can connect and interact with other viewers”. THIS IS HUGE. What an incredible way to build a community around your broadcasts.

Scheduling will be rolled out to all pages in the coming weeks, according to Facebook – and is already available to verified pages.

This is one feature you definitely want to be using in 2017!
