Social Media isn’t easy. And sometimes, it isn’t fun. Sometimes, working on your social strategy and your marketing for your business can be stressful, boring and just distracting from the other parts of your business. And for many business owners that I’ve met, it doesn’t come naturally. And nobody enjoys spending time on something that feels foreign to them.   I started my business back in 2012, and can honestly say that even though I have coached hundreds of business owners and marketing teams on how to execute punchy, results-focused social media strategies, I often found that most of the […]

How To Combat Social Media Overwhelm

Posted on Oct 18, 2016 by Rachel McLean

I want to share a conversation that I had with a client this week. This client had been feeling exhausted and overwhelmed with the amount of time and effort they were spending each week on creating posts, scheduling them, posting different content to their Facebook Page and their VIP group, thinking of ways to reach as many prospect clients and existing clients as possible. As a result, they’d found they were spending hours and hours every week on these tasks, for no financial return. NONE.   This isn’t a one-off occurrence – I’ve seen this before. And the reason this […]

What we can learn from Trump

WOW. Did you watch the US Presidential Debate this morning? It was one of the most intense conversations I’ve ever witnessed. It was also pretty cool being able to watch it live, courtesy of the New York Times. In case you missed it, there was heated discussion around Hillary’s emails, Donald’s tax returns, Bill’s sexual history (yep, Trump brought Bill into it) and much more. Trump was also asked to explain his behaviour in 2005, when he was caught on a hot mic, joking about sexual assault (I think we’ve all heard about this over the weekend). His defence was, […]

Time To Reflect And Review

Posted on Nov 18, 2015 by Rachel McLean

social media workshop brisbane

It’s that time of year when we start thinking more and more about our holidays, how much money we have for Christmas gifts and calculating exactly how much exercise we need to do pre-Xmas day in order to burn off that pineapple-glazed ham before eating it. But before you go all festive on us, take a moment to reflect on what you’ve achieved with your business this year, and what parts of those achievements have sprung from your investment in your business’ online presence. You’ve been working on your website this year, making it sexier. Have you been measuring your […]

Why We See Some Facebook Posts And Not Others

Posted on May 6, 2015 by Rachel McLean

Over the weekend i had one of our clients ask why they don’t see some Facebook Pages in their news-feed, but they do see others. If you’ve been wondering the same thing yourself, here’s a really simple explanation: We’re all using social media (and Facebook) more than we were a few years ago. One huge part of our activity increase is liking more and more pages – we used to like a few pages and now there might be over 50 pages that a person is a fan of. So while the number of pages you’ve like has increased, there […]

Changes In Facebook

Posted on Mar 6, 2015 by Rachel McLean

So far this year there has been a few changes to personal and business Facebook pages that you may not be aware of. Here are some of those changes: 1. News Feed Algorithm Facebook has changed its ranking algorithm for the News Feed once again. Facebook has pushed for more “high quality content”; including a focus on news from media outlets and fewer “meme photos” hosted outside of Facebook will be shown. Facebook advertising and boosted posts have been expanded with these new ideas to increase media sales. After you click on a link to an article or website, you […]
